A Scott Pilgrim vs. the World panel was featured in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, 2010; after the panel, Wright invited selected members of the audience for a screening of the film, which was followed by a performance of “Black Sheep” by Metric. The film was then shown at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal on July 27, 2010, and was also featured at Movie-Con III in London on August 15, 2010. It formally premiered in Canada in Toronto on August 13, 2010; Plumtree, who had broken up years earlier, got back together for a show at the event.

Legendary director Shinji Mikami and the team at Capcom popularised the over-the-shoulder view seen in every game after from The Last of Us to Grand Theft Auto. The critical reception to a 2023 remake shows its impact has not waned a jot.
God of War didn’t just shake up the series’ narrative – it was one of the most visually arresting games in its release year. Its gameplay, featuring Kratos now wielding an axe among huge innovations to camera work, combos, and the addition of RPG elements, also helped bring the franchise into the new era of gaming while immediately creating a game of the year contender that did, eventually, make good on that promise across a number of award shows.
