The Organiser Agreement for TWG 2025 was signed by the Mayor of Chengdu, Mr Luo Qiang in 2019, in Gold Coast, Australia. The Vice President of IOC and the Chinese Olympic Committee, Mr Yu Zaiqing, signed the agreement as Witness. IWGA President José Perurena signed on behalf of the International World Games Association. This was preceded by ratification of the contract by the then 37 (now 39) member federations of the IWGA during the Annual General Meeting in 2019.

Chengdu can refer to some experience in hosting multi-sport events. Chengdu organised the World Police and Fire Games in 2019 and the FISU World University Games in 2023. Joachim Gossow: “Seeing all the assets the city offers, we are looking forward to showcasing our event in Chengdu, because we experienced especially the enthusiasm of the city, but in addition the support of the Chinese Olympic Committee for our Games and the non-Olympic sports.”
The 12th edition of The World Games will take place from 7th to 17th August 2025. The host city will be the mega-city Chengdu in the People’s Republic of China. The guidelines of the IWGA strategy paper ‘Growth Beyond Excellence’, adopted in November 2020, will be applied for the first time at TWG 2025. For the third time in the history of The World Games since 1981, the multi-sport event is a guest in Asia.
Game 1 world series

In the eighth inning, Shohei Ohtani banged a double off the right-field wall. Juan Soto fielded the hop but lofted a lackadaisical throw back toward second base. There was no cut-off man calling for the ball, so Soto’s throw short-hopped second baseman Gleyber Torres, who was set up well in front of the bag. Rather than knock the ball down, Torres tried to swipe the hop. The ball ended up deflecting off his glove and trickling toward the pitcher’s mound. Neither first baseman Anthony Rizzo nor any other Yankee had floated to the middle of the field, so Ohtani took off for third as Rizzo eventually corralled the ball.
With two runs in, two runners on and two out in the sixth inning, Edman made a diving stop on Yankees catcher Austin Wells’ single up the middle, keeping the ball in the infield and forcing Jazz Chisholm Jr. to put on the brakes around third base, preventing him from scoring and giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.

It wouldn’t quite be accurate to say that Walker Buehler had never saved a game before Wednesday night. That’s because he did save one once — for the Triple-A Oklahoma Dodgers, against Round Rock, back on Aug. 13, 2017.
The eight-time All-Star, who homered in the final two games of the Atlanta Braves’ 2021 World Series win over the Houston Astros, is the first player to go yard in six consecutive games in the Fall Classic overall.
• Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit the fifth set of back-to-back homers in Yankees World Series history in the first inning of Game 5. They joined 1977 Game 5 Thurman Munson and Reggie Jackson, 1964 Game 6 Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle, 1932 Game 3 Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and 1928 Game 4 Ruth and Gehrig. The Yankees are the first team in World Series history to hit multiple home runs in the first inning of a game when facing elimination. With the Dodgers in Game 2, this was the first time there were multiple sets of back-to-back home runs in a single World Series.
