To me this was the best world series ever. Coming off the events of September 11, 2001, the city of New York was convinced that it was meant to be for the Yankees to win. The Yankees had just beaten the Seattle Mariners, who won 116 regular season games. The Diamondbacks, however, had perhaps at the time, the best two starting pitchers in the game…Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson. The Yankees offense did hardly anything in the series, scoring just 15 runs the entire series, yet the Yankees came within two outs of winning. When the Yankees took a 3-2 series lead, all New York was about to party, but the Diamondbacks had other ideas. A great series that went down to the final inning of the final game!

Titans quarterback Steve McNair rushes for a Super Bowl record 64 yards and leads his team down the field on their final drive with a chance to tie the game. With five seconds left on the clock, McNair completes a nine yard pass to Kevin Dyson who is tackled by Mike Jones on the one yard line as time expires. The Tennessee Titans fall one yard short.

Stanton’s complete absence of anything resembling speed after multiple lower-half injuries hurt the Yankees in the regular season. But it was a little surprising to learn that Stanton doesn’t even have another gear of speed for the World Series, especially given how he’s been able to lock in at the plate this postseason. Yankees: The Yankees are facing a 3-0 series deficit because their offense, led by their presumptive American League MVP, has gone missing. On Monday, New York produced four hits, five walks and boos from the home crowd. Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-4; the rest of the team finished 3-for-27. Aaron Judge went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a walk, running his series tally to 1-for-12 with seven strikeouts. Stanton’s double in the fourth inning Monday was New York’s only extra-base hit. The Yankees went 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base. They had rallies end with a questionable send (Stanton getting thrown out at home in the fourth inning) and a questionable strike three call (Gleyber Torres taking a pitch above the strike zone with two runners on base in the seventh inning).
