Granted, the Yankees now have to win three games in a row with starting pitcher matchups that they lost the first time around, but the flip side is that the Dodgers’ rotation will all have to replicate some of the best starts of their season. The Yankees can make history just by sending this series back to Los Angeles, and it’s going to be a very different vibe if they do.

Game 2 world series
They won Game 2 of the World Series, 4-2, over the New York Yankees to take a two games to none series lead. But they lost superstar Shohei Ohtani to a left shoulder injury on a stolen-base attempt in the seventh inning.
Rodón has also made three starts in the postseason, and has had similar results to Yamamoto. He allowed four runs in 3 2/3 frames against the Royals in Game 2 of the ALDS, dominated the Guardians in Game 1 of the ALCS with nine strikeouts over six strong frames, and was solid —if unspectacular — with two runs over 4 2/3 innings in Game 5 while accumulating six punchouts. The key for Rodón will be avoiding the blowup innings, and if he can, the Yankees have a good chance of evening this series.

New York will need better performances from its batters, as Soto led the way but didn’t get enough help. Giancarlo Stanton notably went 1-for-4 at the plate while Aaron Judge’s postseason woes continued, going 0-for-4.
As he has been all series, Freeman was the hero Monday, thanks to a two-run home run off Yankees starter Clarke Schmidt in the top of the first inning. The blast to the right-field bleachers scored Shohei Ohtani and sucked the air out of a Yankee Stadium crowd that was hyped by a Fat Joe pregame performance and a first pitch by franchise icon Derek Jeter.
Baker was proactive in going to his bullpen in the fourth with Garcia already at 72 pitches. But the pitching move that would draw the most debate was the one made by Snitker after the fifth, when he yanked Anderson with the no-hitter intact.
Yamamoto had a commanding performance across 6.1 innings, allowing just one hit (home run via Juan Soto) and recording four strikeouts. However, Shohei Ohtani suffered a partially dislocated left shoulder after he landed awkwardly on an attempt to steal second base in the last play of the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Braves had stranded three runners in the game’s first two innings against Astros starter Luis Garcia before breaking through — slightly — in the third. Rosario walked and Freddie Freeman punched a perfect single to left-center field to put two aboard with none out. Though he managed to strike out Ozzie Albies for the inning’s first out, Garcia looked less comfortable in the stretch than in his usual rock-a-baby windup, and Riley took advantage with a double down the left-field line to score Rosario and make it 1-0.
