This is a list of board games. See the article on game classification for other alternatives, or see Category:Board games for a list of board game articles. Board games are games with rules, a playing surface, and tokens that enable interaction between or among players as players look down at the playing surface and face each other. Unlike digital games, player interaction is not mediated by a system in board games, and ultimately the essential difference between board games and digital games is the medium.
For years, the look and rules of Sorry! remained pretty much the same. But in 2013, some rules were updated and other changes were made. Before, players started with four pawns, but now they get only three pawns. And two new cards, Fire and Ice, were added. Special editions of this family board game include those that feature Disney villains and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Video games are also believed to be beneficial to the mind and body. It has been shown that action video game players have better hand–eye coordination and visuo-motor skills, such as their resistance to distraction, their sensitivity to information in the peripheral vision and their ability to count briefly presented objects, than nonplayers. Researchers found that such enhanced abilities could be acquired by training with action games, involving challenges that switch attention between different locations, but not with games requiring concentration on single objects. A 2018 systematic review found evidence that video gaming training had positive effects on cognitive and emotional skills in the adult population, especially with young adults. A 2019 systematic review also added support for the claim that video games are beneficial to the brain, although the beneficial effects of video gaming on the brain differed by video games types.
2013’s The Last of Us pulled very few punches, choosing to eschew a tidy, walk-into-the-sunset hero’s victory for a morally ambiguous rug pull. Its follow-up was more unlikely still; a revenge tale that put us in the shoes of a character we were encouraged to hate early on. Somehow, The Last of Us Part 2 makes it work, and the warring stories of its beautifully performed dual protagonists are told with no punches pulled, once again leaving us in a more ambiguous space than AAA games would usually allow. Plus, its combat is fluid, it looks gorgeous, and its sinister creature design means it’s genuinely tense from moment to moment. A masterpiece. – Lucy O’Brien (Read Our Review)
There have been numerous Star Wars video games made over the years, but Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) is widely considered to be the best. The RPG from 2003 masterfully walks the line between being an iconic Star Wars tale and being an engaging game built off of a system adapted from Dungeons & Dragons. Characters in the game are crafted with deep story arcs, often full of surprises, and the use of Force powers is smooth and natural.
