Who won world series game last night
The top of the eighth inning for the Volunteers was essentially a carbon copy of the seventh, as with two outs and a runner on first Cal Stark broke out of his 0-for-16 slump with a no-doubt, two-run blast over the bullpen in left field.< what’s the biggest fish in the ocean /p>
It was an incredible season from end-to-end for the Volunteers. Not only were they the first No. 1 overall seed to win the National title since Miami in 1999, but their 60 total wins are the most for a CWS champion since 1989.
They added a run in both the fifth and sixth innings before Tears provided the exclamation point with an RBI double in the eighth inning. It was a vintage Drew Beam start, and it could not have come at a better time or in a bigger spot. The prized righthander allowed one run with seven strikeouts across five innings pitched, while the bullpen duo of Kirby Connell (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) and Nate Snead (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K) followed with four-straight shutout innings to slam the door.

Javier pitched six innings on 97 pitches without allowing a hit, striking out nine batters, and walking two. He was relieved by Bryan Abreu, who struck out the side in the seventh inning. Rafael Montero pitched a hitless eighth inning for the Astros. Ryan Pressly, the Astros closer, pitched in the ninth inning for the Astros, only allowing a one-out walk to Kyle Schwarber, to complete the no-hitter. It was the first combined no-hitter in postseason history, and the second no-hitter in World Series history after Don Larsen’s perfect game in 1956. It was also the third no-hitter in postseason history, after Roy Halladay threw a no-hitter for the Phillies in the 2010 National League Division Series against the Cincinnati Reds. Coincidentally, both no-hitters took place at Citizens Bank Park, and Dusty Baker was involved as a manager in both as he had managed the Reds in 2010.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts just took the ball from him in the top of the seventh inning after a masterful performance. The Japanese right-hander threw 6.1 innings, allowing just one hit, two walks and striking out four.
The number of teams was unchanged until 1961, with fourteen expansion teams joining MLB since then, all of which except the Seattle Mariners have appeared in at least one World Series. Of the 28 Series in which at least one expansion team has played, including three Series (2015, 2019, and 2023) in which both teams were expansion teams, expansion teams have won 13 of them, which is 46.4% of all series in which an expansion team played and 10.9% of all 119 series played since 1903. In 2015, the first World Series featuring only expansion teams was played between the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets.
However, in nine of the past eleven seasons, home-field advantage has not decided World Series games: Between 2014 and 2022, and again since 2023, the home team did not win the deciding game of a World Series on their own home field, although the 2020 edition, played on a neutral site due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was won by the designated home team (in this case the team that batted second), the Los Angeles Dodgers, so technically speaking it was the first Series won by the home team since 2013. The 2022 edition was won in 6 games by the eventual designated home team, the Houston Astros, making them the first such team since 2013 to actually win the deciding game of a World Series on their own home field, in this case Minute Maid Park. The following year, the Texas Rangers won the 2023 Series on the road, at Chase Field, home of the opponents, the Arizona Diamondbacks, who would have home-field advantage for the deciding game of the 2023 Series. The following year the Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 Series on the road in Yankee Stadium, home of opponents the New York Yankees, who had home-field advantage for the deciding game of their 2024 series.
Who are the starting pitchers?Dodgers: RHP Walker Buehler (1-6, 5.38 ERA in the regular season)Buehler’s regular season didn’t go as expected once he returned from a second Tommy John surgery, but the right-hander has had a strong postseason for the Dodgers. Buehler’s final line against the Padres in NLDS Game 3 looks worse than his overall performance. He then bounced back in a pivotal Game 3 in the NLCS, tossing four scoreless innings against the Mets.

Though tonight marks the end of the road for Florida, it was a remarkable. On Selection Monday, there was serious doubt that the Gators would even make the tournament but they made the most of their opportunity and then some. Runs to Omaha have become the norm under head coach Kevin O’Sullivan, and I have little doubt his crew will be squarely in the mix again next season.

This is it. Tonight’s game between Texas A&M and Tennessee will determine the 2024 Men’s College World Series national champion. The series is tied 1-1 after the Aggies won Game 1, 9-5, and the Vols secured a 4-1 win with a late rally in Game 2. Each team is within reaching distance to claim their program’s first-ever national title.
The Vols went up 6-1, highlighted by Hunter Ensley’s acrobatic slide to avoid Jackson Appel’s tag, before the Aggies scored four straight runs in the final two innings to cut the deficit to one. Tennessee closer Aaron Combs finished the job, striking out Ted Burton for the Tennessee victory.
The top of the eighth inning for the Volunteers was essentially a carbon copy of the seventh, as with two outs and a runner on first Cal Stark broke out of his 0-for-16 slump with a no-doubt, two-run blast over the bullpen in left field.
