Bottom of the ninth: Facing Dodgers reliever Michael Kopech, Anthony Volpe struck out. Kopech walked Anthony Rizzo, who then took second base on a wild pitch. Austin Wells popped out. Alex Verudgo then hit a two-run home run off Kopech to right field to end the Dodgers’ shutout bid with two outs.
Of course, Yankees fans are aware of the only time in baseball history a team has come back after losing the first three games of a best-of-seven series. It was 2004 ALCS when the Red Sox did it to the Yankees en route to their first World Series title in 86 years.

Cole struck out Lux and Ohtani to move one step from escaping, but Cole’s steps failed him: Betts hit a cue ball to first base, where Rizzo fielded and Cole did not cover quickly enough, Betts reaching and a run scoring.
Tommy Edman worked the count full against Leiter Jr., but then the hurler threw a nasty curveball to strike Edman out. A nifty play by Jazz Chisholm Jr. at third ending the inning, and we head to the ninth with Walker Buehler attempting to close out the World Series for the Dodgers. Hang on to your hats.
The Dodgers did it for Vin Scully and Fernando Valenzuela. But most of all, they did it for the city of Los Angeles and the faithful fans who couldn’t witness the team’s 2020 World Series run in person.
When Buehler took the mound in the ninth inning, the Dodgers had taken advantage of a litany of Yankees mistakes to score five runs against a dominant Gerrit Cole in the top of the fifth and used back-to-back eighth-inning sacrifice flies by Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts to take their first lead. In the next half-inning, a tiring Blake Treinen had confronted a two-on, one-out situation and gotten out of it unscathed. Then Buehler came in and retired the bottom of the Yankees’ lineup in order, securing the Dodgers’ first championship since 2020 — and their first full-season title since 1988.
The Dodgers gave the nod to veteran righty Jack Flaherty, but he was pulled in the second inning as Dave Roberts shuffled between his bullpen again, eventually ending with star starter Walker Buehler closing it out.

Shadow of the Colossus is one of those rare games that transcends the usual confines of the medium, so much so that it should probably be on show in museums as a masterpiece. The story seems simple enough, a young hero trying to save a damsel in distress by fighting gigantic monsters, but everything from the visual style to the emotional beats of the story ultimately come together to leave scars on your soul. Each colossus is a level in itself, a huge structure that must be climbed and conquered, and the game resists the temptation to overload its hero with tools, giving you just a sword, bow, and loyal companionship of Agro the horse to succeed. You can still see the game’s influence in titles released today, anytime you have to scale a huge enemy like they’re a jungle gym – that’s the Colossus effect.

Described as “a more hardcore Battlefield” in 2018, in June 2020 the developer The Farm 51 planned a revamp and relaunch together with the publisher My.Games and co-publisher The 4 Winds Entertainment joined in 2021; in 2021 the game seemed to be moving away from the “hardcore”. The developer commented that World War 3 aims for as much realism as possible without compromising gameplay: “One of our goals with World War 3 is to offer realistic simulations with an altogether enjoyable experience. We call this playable realism.” The game features “an advanced ballistics system, full-body awareness, vehicle physics, and extensive customization.

You end spending 90% of the game running around looking for enemies, only to get gunned down in the back by a random opfor that was doing the same.Best case scenario you end up camping an overwatch spot to pick on those too lost to do the same.
DEFCON might not be the most complex WW3 game listed here, but it does one thing exceptionally well, and that’s atmosphere. This is a game that portrays the intensity and inevitable casualties all-out nuclear war brings. Players are essentially competing to be the nation that gets genocide-d the least. As the game’s Steam page says, “everybody dies, everybody loses”.
